What Did The Flood Of 1965 Really Look Like?
We've been hearing a lot about the mighty Mississippi reaching the highest flood level ever this week, matching or possibly exceeding the 22'6'' of 1965. Davenport city workers are racing to hold off this extra water. Business owners in the path are scrambling to move inventory to higher ground. Nobody expected this. 1965 was a 500-year flood, after all.
One of our friends, Roberta Osmers, shared these remarkable photos from that year. Originally taken by her grandmother, you'll see some recognizable landmarks under water. The photos from this year will show similar devastation.
