Was The Will Smith Slap Fake? Watch This Slow Motion View And Decide
By now, most everyone has seen the slap delivered by Will Smith to Chris Rock during the Oscars last night.
Chris Rock was on stage to deliver the award for Best Documentary, but before he did, he was throwing off some zingers at different people in the audience, eventually landing on Will and Jada Pinkett Smith.
Rock made a comment about Jada's shaved head, saying he couldn't "Wait to see G.I. Jane 2."
Many in the crowd laughed, some groaned, and Chris didn't think he crossed any lines, but Will Smith did, and he showed it by storming the stage.
Smith walked across the stage, up to Chris Rock, and slapped him across the face before turning around and returning to his seat.
"Wow. Will Smith just smacked the s*** outta me," Rock said, surprised.
Smith then sat down, and shouted back to the stage, "Keep my wife's name out your f****** mouth!"
Well, now the discussion comes down to "What was this?"
Was it an attempt to bring the Oscar's in the news? People will watch if celebrities are assaulting one another!
Was it an attempt to bring Smith and Rock back to the headlines? Neither of them are necessarily not in people's minds, with both having wildly successful careers.
Was it truly Smith defending his wife's honor? Or is it a method actor returning to his role?
and the biggest question of them all...
Was it fake?
We talked with a caller this morning who thought it looked like the type of slap you'd see in professional wrestling, where he would've slapped the lapel on Rock's chest.
I have to say, I thought the same thing, but after watching the slow motion, Smith's hand isn't anywhere near that lapel that was plainly visible before.
The slap:
The microphone is about eight inches or more below his face.
Watch it for yourself, and you tell me what you think.
