USPS Halts Midwest Mail Delivery Because Of Extremely Dangerous Cold Temperatures
Here in the Midwest, we're no stranger to a brutally cold Winter, but the latest cold snap here in Iowa has been worse than usual.
With high temps today in the single digits and the low temps predicted to be around -25 overnight many businesses have decided to close their doors tomorrow for the safety of their customers and workers.
For the first time I can recall in my lifetime, the U.S. Postal Service has taken note and decided to halt mail service tomorrow. Due to the severe wind chill conditions, the USPS has announced postal delivery Wednesday will be suspended in Iowa, Minnesota, Western Wisconsin and Western Illinois. No mail pickup will take place at businesses or collection boxes and there will be no residential or commercial package pickups.
I applaud them for taking the safety of their employees into consideration during this incredibly dangerous conditions.
