
Two Men Attempt to Fake Winning Lottery Tickets Using Fake Numbers and Glue
Two men in Mississippi are behind bars after trying to cash in a winning lottery ticket.
Officers were called by the Mississippi Lottery Corporation about two men trying to pass off a counterfeit ticket. After talking with the MLC, police reported the suspects had turned in a $100,000 winning ticket that had numbers glued to it that matched the prize. The suspects signed the ticket and went to the office to cash in.
Odis Latham and Russell Sparks were arrested and are being charged with Conspiracy to Commit Felony and Uttering Counterfeit Instrument over $1,000. Latham was charged for having a fake ID as well. They are being held with no bond.
Trying to cash in a counterfeit lottery ticket is punishable by up to 20 years in prison and a $50,000.
