These Are The Drunkest Cities In South Carolina
Nobody drinks like they do in the south, and there’s no better example than in South Carolina. The Palmetto State is known for it’s great beaches, great college sports, and great drinkers. So whether you’re trying to have a fun night out with friends or just hitting a quick stop on your way home from work, these are the ten cities and towns where you can know that you’ll be able to get your fix.
Roadsnacks took a good long look into some of the most intoxicated places throughout the state and compiled some really interesting data, including looking Bars and Liquor stores per capita and, coincidentally (or not), the divorce rates in the area. There’s no population cut-off here so if you can booze with the best of ‘em, you’re included. As you’ll see, there are some towns that many of us may have never heard of before.
#10: Spartanburg
Population: 37,333
Divorce rate: 11.2%
Bars per capita: 14th
Liquor stores per capita: 15th
With a good mix of colleges and blue-collar folks, no surprise this city ends up on the list.
#9: Seneca
Population: 8,092
Divorce rate: 19%
Bars per capita: 20th
Liquor stores per capita: 18th
Just east of Clemson on Lake Keowee, this is a great spot to go day drink on your boat all afternoon long.
#8: Hilton Head
Population: 37,340

While the locals can sure drink with the best of ‘em, the influx of tourists definitely raises the ranking here.

You’re almost guaranteed to have a great time if you hit the town in Greenville. I’d recommend hitting a Swamp Rabbits game if you’re ever in the area and feel like drinking beer and watching hockey.
