Recall On Walmart Item
Walmart issued a recall for the "Mainstays Electric Mini Choppers" on April 4, 2024, citing a heightened risk of cuts. The Consumer Product Safety Commission stated, "The chopper’s blade may unexpectedly start during assembly or when not contained within the container, presenting a risk of cuts to consumers."
As per the Food Poisoning Bulletin, Walmart has received five injury reports related to the product exclusively available in its stores. Two of these injuries necessitated medical attention and stitches. Walmart clarified in its recall notification that all injuries happened during assembly or while cleaning and handling the chopper.
The choppers, identifiable by their green lid and white base, are rechargeable, cordless, and feature three blades attached to the white plastic base. Customers who have purchased these choppers can return them to their nearest Walmart store for a prompt refund.
This Isn't The Only Recall
This isn't the sole product that Walmart has recalled recently. On April 8, it also recalled the Black+Decker model HGS011 Easy Garment Steamers, which includes those that were repaired as part of the previous recall in November 2022. Walmart stated in its recall notice that the steamers were available in various colors. The reason for the recall is that "it can expel, spray, or leak hot water during use, posing a burn hazard to consumers."
Also, on April 8, Walmart issued a recall for 8.2 million defective bags of Tide, Gain, Ace, and Ariel Laundry Detergent packets. According to Walmart, "The outer packaging intended to prevent access to the contents may split open near the zipper track, posing a serious injury risk to children and other vulnerable individuals if the laundry detergent packets are ingested, as well as risking skin or eye injuries. Ingestion of a large quantity of any surfactant-containing household cleaning products can lead to fatalities among individuals with underlying health conditions." Similar to other recalled products, Walmart is urging customers to return the product to their nearest store for a full refund.
