The Quad Cities are known for many great things: John Deere, Whitey's ice cream, and River Bandits baseball, to name a few. Unfortunately, we have some not so great things around here too. Our local crime rates definitely leave us looking a little less desirable.

So which parts seem to be especially rough? According to NeighborhoodScout.com, it's not too difficult to determine. Of all the cities in the Quad Cities, Davenport has the highest rate of crime (no surprise there). Their calculations are based on the reported number of violent crimes (murder, rape, robbery, assault) and property crimes (burglary, theft, motor vehicle theft), and then they rate each town on a scale of 1 to 100, 100 being the safest rating. Davenport scored a dismal 8, meaning it's only safer 8% of all cities in the United States. Sad, right?

Now before you freak out and start looking for a new place to live, keep in mind that most of Davenport's crime is concentrated in specific parts of the city. This website claims that three of Davenport's neighborhoods score about equally: City Center (downtown), E River Dr/Mound St, and Brady St/E 15th St. Check out this map for a little bit clearer idea of where that is.

Of course, this is information you probably already had some idea of. After all, you have to have been living under a rock if you're at all unaware of the recent rise in shots fired in Davenport, but that doesn't mean that Davenport isn't a good place to live. It's the same old Davenport we all know and love! So keep living life, Quad Cities!
