A mom in Hico, Texas is claiming the school her son attends cut his hair without her permission last Tuesday citing that his hair violated the school's dress code.

Amy Martin, explains that she had made several attempts to take her son to a barber, but has had issues because money is tight. They had recently moved and she is suffering from medical problems. "They told him he needed a haircut and we tried 3 times and failed for various reasons. It's not his fault, it's mine," Martin wrote on Facebook.

A few days later the principal, Shelli Stegall, told the 16-year-old, Lane Kiesling, that a teacher who has a cosmetology license would cut his hair at the end of the school day. He was then pulled from his seventh period class and a teacher proceeded to only cut his bangs making him look like Jim Carey from "Dumb and Dumber."

According to the district's student handbook, "If the principal determines that a student's grooming or clothing violates the school's dress code, the student will be given an opportunity to correct the problem at school. If not corrected, the student may be assigned to in-school suspension for the remainder of the day."

Martin thinks the later option would have been the better choice.
