The Incident

According to Rochester Fire Department, a local man was placed in custody after he allegedly set an apartment on fire, put on the clothes of the homeowner, and ate his food.

What Happened?

The incident happened at the Saratoga Avenue Apartment Complex. RFD said that a tenant on the second floor came home on Monday to find something quite unexpected.

The tenant, who remains anonymous, found his upstairs neighbor in his apartment wearing HIS clothing and eating HIS food. Even worse, there was a fire burning inside his apartment. 

The intruder was held down by the tenant and another civilian until authorities arrived on the scene.

How Did The Man Break In?

Rochester Fire Department said that the upstairs intruder was able to get into the second-floor apartment by kicking in the door.

The suspect's name and photo have not yet been released.

What About The Fire?

Investigation shows that the upstairs tenant lit the fire intentionally in his neighbor's apartment.

Firefighters were able to put out the fire, however, a good amount of damage was done. The fire burned a hole into the living room of the apartment.

The Charges

The suspect was taken into custody by the Rochester Police Department for questioning.

The suspect has been charged with the following:

  • Arson in the second degree
  • Burglary in the second degree
  • Criminal Mischief  in the fourth degree by the Arson Task Force
