Pilot Makes Emergency Landing on California Freeway

I learned from my recent trip out west that traffic in California is waaay different than it is in Iowa. For example, here's a plane landing on a freeway.

A family was on their way to the dentist when they saw a single-engine aircraft flying too close to the road for comfort. The video below shows the plane making its descent and the pilot makes it look easy as he avoids cars, power lines, and the center divider.

25-year-old Ryan Muno was giving a flying lesson to a 35-year-old student when the engine lost power. They were headed to land at Gillespie Field Airport in El Cajon at the time. That's when Muno took over and made the emergency landing on Interstate 8, two miles from the intended landing strip.
