A couple's SUV had to be pulled out of a river in Philadelphia yesterday after they knocked it into gear while getting it on in the backseat.
Vehicle Rolls into Schuylkill River During Early Morning Incident on Kelly Drive
In the early hours of Wednesday morning, emergency crews were dispatched to retrieve a vehicle that had rolled into the Schuylkill River along Kelly Drive. According to police reports, the incident occurred after the car was accidentally shifted into gear.
The vehicle, a 2020 Range Rover, ended up in the river near the 1900 block of Kelly Drive in Fairmount Park just before dawn. Authorities believe that a couple inside the vehicle, who were engaged in romantic activities, inadvertently shifted the car out of park, causing it to roll into the water around 4:27 a.m.
A police spokesperson humorously noted that the pair were "getting busy" when the accident occurred. Fortunately, both individuals managed to escape safely from the car before it was submerged, and no injuries were reported.
By 6:30 a.m., efforts to remove the vehicle from the water were still underway, as rowers continued to paddle along the river near the site of the incident.
