Patti LaBelle Stumbling Through “This Christmas” is a Classic

I don't know how this disaster of a performance slipped through the cracks for so long, but here it is and it's a classic. Patti LaBelle was invited to sing "This Christmas" at the 1996 National Christmas Tree Lightning.

A vocalist like Patti would be able to blow away a performance like this, except she didn't know the lyrics and her back-up singers were nowhere to be found.

Instead she adlibs some words and complains about the cue cards in a singsongy way. Patti even throws in some vocal flourishes for good measure.
