Our Best Bites: City Limits
This week we hit the road and drove out to City Limits in Rock Island, where we found a bar and grill heavily focused on being local. It's why they're one of Our Best Bites.
City Limits is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner seven days a week. One of their biggest sellers for breakfast is their biscuits and gravy, but we decided on the 'Salty Hog Pancakes.'
Fluffy sweet pancakes filled with savory crumbled bacon and topped with homemade caramel pecan sauce and a dash of powdered sugar.
City Limits knows what they're doing when it comes to tenderloins. Only purchased from a local butcher shop, they serve up their tenderloins in four different ways. We went for the 'Outer Limits Loin.'
Seasoned and lightly dredged in batter, this tenderloin is covered in pile of cheese, topped with bacon, and served best with some of their chips.
If you're looking for a very Quad Cities burger, Check out the 'QC!'
This chopped steak burger with bacon and cheddar cheese is topped with onions caramelized in Bent River's Uncommon Stout. It's served with a drizzle of Boetje's mustard on a pretzel bun.
If you make the stop and still have room for dessert, be sure to ask about their made-from-scratch cobbler. They have about thirty rotating varieties.
You'll find that City Limits in Rock Island is more than a restaurant, bar, patio, and rentable back room. It's a family gathering place, which is why they're one of Our Best Bites.
