Naked Pennsylvania Man Arrested After Assault on Troopers in Drug-Fueled Altercation
Clearfield County authorities have reported the arrest of a Morrisdale man following a violent encounter with police during a domestic violence call last week. The incident, described as a drug-induced "fight" with officers, left two state troopers injured.
When Did This Happen?
The events unfolded on Wednesday morning in Graham Township, where police were called to a home after 36-year-old Keatin Gaines allegedly arrived naked and under the influence of drugs. According to the affidavit, a female resident dialed 911 after Gaines reportedly told her it was "time to meet the Lord" and began physically assaulting her by punching her in the head.
Police Were On The Way
While the 911 call was in progress, investigators say Gaines barricaded himself in a bathroom with the woman's husband and two children. Inside, he allegedly began praying loudly and drinking toilet water, police said.
Putting Up A Fight
When state troopers arrived at the scene, they attempted to remove Gaines from the home, but he resisted and became combative. During the struggle, Gaines reportedly told officers, “No! You’re the cops… this is a fight.”
Officers deployed a taser multiple times in an effort to subdue Gaines, but their attempts were unsuccessful. According to authorities, Gaines struck and kicked the troopers repeatedly, leaving one officer with broken ribs and a bruised wrist, while the other sustained a possible broken bone in his hand. Both officers will require further medical treatment and follow-ups with specialists for their injuries.
Eventually, Gaines was administered a sedative to de-escalate the situation and was transported to Mount Nittany Medical Center for evaluation.
Court records indicate Gaines has been charged with multiple offenses, including aggravated assault, assaulting law enforcement, and resisting arrest. He was arraigned last week and remains in custody at Clearfield County Prison after being denied bail.
