South Carolina Man Arrested After Pulling Gun At Candy Store
The suspect, identified as 36-year-old Joshua Kim, entered the Sugar Life Ice Cream & Candy Bar and began arguing with two workers, demanding a refund for the candy he had purchased.
No Refunds
When the employees informed Kim that the store does not offer refunds on candy, he reportedly escalated the situation by brandishing a firearm and threatening to shoot them if they didn't return his money. "He said, ‘I’ll put a bullet in your head if you don’t give me my money back right now,’” recounted employee Edilson Mejia, who was present during the incident.
The confrontation occurred in front of other customers, including children, creating a terrifying scene in what is supposed to be a family-friendly environment.
Police Watch The Tapes
Police reviewed surveillance footage, which confirmed the employees' memory of the event. Later that night, officers arrested Kim and 35-year-old Chelsie Lowe at a nearby resort on Ocean Boulevard. During a search of their vehicle, authorities discovered small amounts of cocaine and marijuana, resulting in additional drug charges for both individuals.
In addition to the drug charges, Kim faces multiple counts of pointing and presenting firearms at a person and unlawful conduct toward a child. The truck they were driving was linked to another "related incident" earlier in the day, which involved three children, though details of that incident remain unclear.
