It's common to associate watching movies with going to the movie theater or renting one from the store and watching it on your television, but there's really no better place to watch them than outside on a summer night under the stars.
But you've got to get a projector and a screen and speakers. Kind of a pain.
Movies on the Mississippi is a great, easy way to spend a summer night outside watching movies with no hassle. The final 2021 Movies on the Mississippi movie for Friday, October 8 is Monsters Inc.
So grab your blankets & chairs and get ready to enjoy a great movie on the riverfront in downtown Davenport.  Way better than on the back of your garage!
The Riverfront Improvement Commission, along with the Regional Development Authority, is excited to bring to the riverfront a free monthly outdoor movie series called Movies on the Mississippi. Each movie will take place in Davenport’s beautiful LeClaire Park with the movie projected on a 25 foot wide screen with the Mississippi River as the backdrop. Families are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs and arrive early to pick a spot. Convenient parking is located adjacent to LeClaire Park.
Prior to the movie starting after dusk each evening, there will be food vendors with a variety of tasty options for purchase. Child-friendly games and activities will be offered for families to enjoy until the movie begins.

We were going to be there with a beer in hand and scream along with guitars that were way too loud in a room that was improperly treated acoustically and make some bad decisions.
