Minivan Filled With 9 Inches Of Snow After Sunroof Was Left Open

Over the weekend, New England was experiencing record-high winter temperatures. Saturday showed a beautiful 63 degrees. The warm winter day gave citizens the perfect opportunity to get outside and enjoy the springlike air.

Several inches of snow was predicted for Sunday, therefore, people were taking advantage of the Saturday weather by driving with their windows down.

Steve Maguire from Scituate, decided to take his family on a drive in his wife's minivan so they could all enjoy the warm day together. The family had spent over a week stuck inside due to COVID quarantine, so this was the perfect escape for them.

“Saturday was so beautiful I’m like, ‘I’ve got to get some of the kids out of the house,” he tells WBZ-TV. “It was 63 degrees here,” Maguire said.

However, after the breezy drive, Maguire forgot the most important thing... To close the sunroof.

Monday morning came around, Maguire walked out to the minivan and was surprised to see the interior filled with about 9 inches of snow. “I’m grateful it wasn’t rain, and it was super easy to clean up because it was so light and fluffy,” Maguire said.

Steve Maguire admitted he should have known better to pay close attention to the weather, as it is his job.

“I’m a high school teacher and one of the electives I teach is meteorology... So if anyone knows the weather, I should know the weather... It couldn’t be more ironic, as a meteorology teacher.” (Boston.cbslocal.com)

Ironically, this is not the first time Steve Maguire had an accident in his wife's minivan. Ten years ago, the van door was accidentally left open, and a squirrel snuck inside. The door was later shut unknowingly with the squirrel still hiding inside.

“The squirrel ate most of the interior,” he said. “So I’m 0 for 2 when it comes to minivans.”
