We've long talked about how every time we think we're running out of Guinness World Records to set or break, someone pops up with a new one in a way that you'd never think. Just this year, a guy set a record for "Most Spoons Balanced On The Body." Well, just in time to make the 2024 Guinness World Records book is a guy who has a gigantic hole in his nose.

Colton Pifer first got his septum pierced when he was 18 years old, with the routine procedure using a 16-gauge needle and forceps. After a week, the soreness went away, and then the Monroe, Michigan native just let it be for about five years.

After a while, he started using bigger and bigger piercings to stretch the hole until one day he realized nobody had a septum flesh tunnel quite like his. That only fueled him to keep going. After doing some research into the world record for the largest nasal septum flesh tunnel, Colton Pifer knew he could beat it.

“As I kept stretching, I kept thinking to myself ‘I wonder how big I can go with this’ and that thought eventually turned into ‘I wonder if I can be the biggest,’” Pifer told Guinness World Records. “So, from there I decided that I was going to attempt to be the biggest.”

People's curiosity played into his want to continue stretching the hole, saying that they had never seen anything like this nasal flesh tunnel. His uncle Josh is a body modification enthusiast, and he encouraged Colton to continue.

“He’s got a lot more modifications than I do like horn implants and such, but if it weren’t for him, I never would’ve gotten into body modification myself and never would’ve started stretching my septum,” Colton said.

Although the stretching process for a septum is the same as ear stretching, it gets painful after a certain point because the jewelry starts to push on the cartilage inside the nose, which takes longer to stretch and heal due to its toughness.

“When I first started stretching it, I never imagined I’d make it to this size,” Colton Pifer said, adding that he is already trying to stretch his nasal flesh tunnel to an even bigger size.

Colton's flesh tunnel is so big, he can stick his thumb through it and he has to get some custom-made jewelry because the normal ones just fall out.
