Man Robs Store With Finger Gun, Flees In His Pink SUV
A robbery suspect held up a convenience store with a 'finger gun' and fled the police with his daughter still in the vehicle he was driving.
Police in Colorado Springs say the robbery took place late Sunday night, at store off of a Newport Road and Aeroplaza. According to the employees at the store, the suspect barged in, threatened the store clerk, and then helped himself to various merchandise, including a fountain drink.
“The suspect ... pointed a ‘finger gun’ at the clerk and told him it was a robbery. ... The suspect used coarse language that intimidated the store clerk and put him in fear of physical harm from the suspect,” a CSPD lieutenant said.
Witnesses described the suspect vehicle as a pink GMC Yukon, which officers spotted a short time later and tried to pull over. The driver allegedly sped off.
“Officers in an unmarked police vehicle later located the vehicle at a Maverick gas station. Officers moved in and blocked the vehicle. It was then that officers learned that the suspect’s teenage daughter was in the passenger seat of the vehicle,” the lieutenant said.
According to the police, the suspect would not let his daughter out of the car, requiring officers to move in to extract her.
“An extraction of the daughter was performed for her own safety. The suspect was then taken into custody for numerous charges including robbery,” the lieutenant said.
The suspect was identified as 35-year-old Antonio Taylor. Online records indicate he remains in custody at the El Paso County jail Monday morning.
