A Florida teenager is behind bars after striking her mom with a pork chop during an argument that turned domestic battery, officials in Martin County say.

According to a probable cause affidavit obtained by The Smoking Gun, the mother of 18-year-old Farrah Kernan told officers that the two had been involved in a "verbal dispute" with her daughter, who, she said, she'd found out had been "drinking alcohol earlier in the day."

During the argument, Farrah became irate to the point where she picked up a pork chop and smacked her mom across the face with it, before throwing it at her with force. Police who arrived on the scene “observed food residue” on the victim’s left shoulder, “which was consistent with her statement.”

When police questioned the teen, Farrah was acting confused and “became emotionally upset, began screaming and crying, and continued to act uncooperatively.” A friend of the victim who was present in the residence had video footage of the pork chop incident, and turned it over to police.

Last year, Kernan was arrested for trespassing on a Jensen Beach causeway, a day after being issued a trespass warning for “a physical altercation with another female.” As part of that case, she was sentenced 50 hours of community service.
