Man Charged After Investigation Shows He Googled “How to Set Your Car on Fire and Make It Look Like an Accident”
A man from Pennsylvania is sitting behind bars after he allegedly set his own car on fire and reported it as stolen to the police.
The 2010 GMC Acadia was reported stolen by 54-year-old Donald Cassidy, of West Newton, on February 15th.
After an investigation, the vehicle was located, torched, in a wooded area and was unrecognizable, except for the a VIN number.
Through their investigation, police later obtained Donald's phone. A search through his internet history revealed that he Googled the question that put him behind bars:
"How to set your car on fire and make it look like an accident.”
Donald was then charged with arson, false reporting, and risking a catastrophe.
