It's crazy to see Illinois continuing to rise on these devastating lists. From having the most polluted lake in America to having one of the worst cities to call home, there's one more to add to the growing list.

Not only has one source listed this Illinois lake as the most dangerous, and deadliest, in America, but at least three other sources have broken the news, as well.

Since September of 2023, more than 30 people have already drowned in Lake Michigan.

"It was a deadly end to a summer that saw controversy bubble up over restrictions along the lakefront, where swimming is prohibited except during hours when lifeguards are present." [wttw]

There are extremely strong undercurrents, rip currents, and tons of rocks under the water in Lake Michigan.

As beautiful and breathtaking as it may look, boaters and swimmers should take extra precautions and know what you're jumping, or sailing, into.

Most of Lake Michigan's beaches don't have lifeguards on duty, which puts visitors at even more risk of drowning or injury.
