Armed Forces Day is coming up and Rock Island Arsenal is ready to help you celebrate for free!

Run The Rock 5k & 10k + America's KidsRun is coming up at the Rock Island Arsenal and it's the perfect way to get in the patriotic spirit for the summer. You don't have to be a runner to participate in the race.

It's fun to walk around the Rock Island Arsenal and experience it for Armed Forces Day! The race will be on Saturday, May 18th with the call to the starting line at 9:35 a.m. The kiddos will race first beginning at 9:00 a.m., with a 100-yard dash, a 1/2 mile, a 1 mile, or a 2 mile race. You can see the map of the races at Run The Rock's registration website.

The Run The Rock 5k & 10k will start after the ceremonial posting of the colors, and invocation, and will begin with cannon fire at 10:00.

A Fun Weekend At The Arsenal

As they have done for years to celebrate Armed Forces Day, there will be plenty of family-friendly festivities going on at the Rock Island Arsenal from May 16th-19th. You will be able to check out different military equipment, ride carnival rides, enjoy some live music, and more at Memorial Field on the Arsenal.
