First Gentleman of Iowa Diagnosed With Cancer
On Thursday, Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds announced that her husband, First Gentleman Kevin Reynolds, has been diagnosed with lung cancer.
She has issued the following statement in Thursday's press release:
“We’re grateful to the incredible medical team caring for Kevin. Our doctor has assured us that significant advancements in lung cancer treatment have been very effective and we have every reason to be optimistic. We are confident in our team as we begin treatment, and we will beat this together.
Gov. Reynolds And Her Family
Gov. Reynolds has been serving as Iowa's 43rd Governor since 2017. She and Kevin have been married since April 3, 1982. Kim and Kevin have three children and 11 grandchildren.
Kevin was born in Osceola, Iowa. He worked at the U.S. Department of Agriculture first as a Soil Conservationist and later as a District Conservationist. His career responsibilities took him to Mount Pleasant and Leon, Iowa. After 36 years of service, he retired in March 2017.
Adding to Thursday's news, Gov. Reynolds said,
“Kevin has been my anchor throughout our 41 years of marriage, and I will be the same for him as he begins treatment. We are blessed to be surrounded by a loving family and a community of prayer warriors. We know God is with us on this journey.”
Thoughts and well-wishes to the First Gentleman in his battle against cancer and to the Reynolds family.
