15 years after it first launched in Des Moines, fan favorite Iowa burger joint Zombie Burger is changing its name.

Zombie Burger In Des Moines Decides to Rebrand

No, this isn't a complete overhaul of the menu, or a redesign of what made Zombie Burger so popular in the first place. The Des Moines Register reports that the name change simply reflects that it's not just about burgers. Say hello to Zombie Burger + Bird. The name change at the location 300 E Grand Ave. in Des Moines became official on June 2nd.

Bird is the Word at Zombie Burger!

Zombie Burger is known for its handcrafted burgers like the Undead Elvis and The Walking Ched. But the chicken quickly became a star on the menu too, according to the Register. With the rebrand, chef George Formaro is adding some new and improved chicken options to the menu! The Register lists the crazy chicken sandwich options now available at Zombie Burger + Bird!

  • The Poultrygeist: This fried chicken sandwich comes with pickles, lettuce, and mayo, meant to showcase the chicken's crunch and seasoning.
  • Stuntman Mike's Chicken Sandwich: This Nashville hot chicken sandwich comes topped with cheddar, coleslaw, and pickles for a bit of heat, tang, and crunch.
  • Helldorado: This hot-honey barbecue chicken comes with Monterey Jack cheese, bacon, and hot honey mayo for a combination that is sticky, sweet, smoky, and spicy.
  • Backwoods: This sweet-heat barbecue chicken comes layered with cheddar cheese, onion rings, and Iowa favorite ranch dressing.
  • Malvado Diablo: The fried chicken sandwich features fried pork belly, pepper jack cheese, pickled jalapenos, and lime mayo.
  • Zombie Seoul: Swiss cheese, kimchi, pickled jalapenos, coleslaw, and sesame mayo come together on this fried chicken sandwich.
  • Argento's Parm: Would this be a Formaro restaurant without an Italian tribute? Mozzarella, fried cheese curds, a spicy marinara, and butter-garlic Parmesan sauce top this fried chicken sandwich.
  • Lucille: The fried pork belly returns with American cheese, caramelized onions, and Zombie sauce.
  • FOTG: The final fried chicken sandwich on the menu features maple-drizzled pork belly, a fried egg, American cheese, and hot honey mayo for a breakfast-meets-brunch dish.

The menu will also feature hand-breaded chicken strips and giant hand-breaded chicken nuggets!
