On May 4th, a Monroe County Sheriff's Deputy was sitting on the side of the highway when a truck full of hay bales passed by. For Iowa, this is nothing out of the ordinary, except this one was on fire. 

The driver hadn't seen that the dry hay had caught fire. Shortly after the officer stopped the truck, the fire spread rapidly, causing bales to fall off the truck into the ditch.

The Albia Fire Department arrived and put the fire out for the most part, but said the bales in the ditch will smolder for a few days.
