Inmate Has Surgery to Remove Smuggled Item

An inmate in the Jefferson County Jail is currently recovering from surgery yesterday, after attempting to smuggle an item into the jail. The object was picked up by the jail's new body scanner.

The item in question was removed, and found to contain a white powder, which was sent away for testing.
