Group of Cows Stop High Speed Police Chase
A nearly 13-mile-long police chase ended with no injuries early yesterday morning in Wisconsin when a group of cows heroically (and unknowingly) blocked the path of the suspect evading officers.
The Barron County Sheriff's Department mentioned in a Facebook post that they had assisted in a pursuit with the Barron City Police Department.
"It ended on a farm and we would be remiss if we didn’t thank the Barron County Bovine Unit for jumping into the fray when the vehicle came into their patrol area," the post said.
The chase began not too long after 1am, and reportedly started because of a registration violation, according to officer Nathan Emmons with the Barron City Police Department.
Eventually the chase ended in a field without incident when the car suddenly came across a group of cows who were just trying to mind their own business.
It was then that the "cows came and surrounded the car," Barron County Sheriff Christ Fitzgerald said.
One man was taken into custody after all was said and done, according to Sheriff Fitzgerald.
"We thought it was a good kickoff to June Dairy Month."
