Arizona Man Caught Hiding Under Women’s Vehicles Looking At Feet for Sexual Gratification
What began as a routine trip to a car wash in Gilbert, Arizona, took a shocking turn when surveillance cameras captured a man behaving disturbingly under unsuspecting women's vehicles.
Man Arrested for Crawling Under Women's Cars at Gilbert Car Wash for Sexual Gratification
On August 29, 2023, a man was seen crawling beneath several cars parked at the Super Star Car Wash near Val Vista Drive and Riggs Road. The suspect, later identified as 28-year-old Jesse Johnson, targeted women as they vacuumed their cars.
One Woman Shares Her Encounter With The Man
Chanelle, one of the victims, shared her unnerving experience with local news. She explained how Johnson parked near her SUV, even though there were plenty of empty spots, and crouched by her vehicle. "At one point, you can see his head pop out on the driver’s side, looking up at me," Chanelle recalled. She had been vacuuming for several minutes, unaware that someone was hiding under her car.
Security footage revealed Johnson staying under the cars for several minutes before emerging and pretending to clean his own vehicle's rear tire. "All of the victims had flip-flops and shorts on. That’s what we all had in common," Chanelle added.
After the incident, the women involved had their vehicles inspected, concerned Johnson may have tampered with them or placed tracking devices underneath. Chanelle admitted feeling violated by the encounter. "I’ve been having nightmares," she said.
Police Investigate The Odd Encounters
As police investigated, they uncovered that Johnson had a history of similar offenses. In Nebraska, he had been arrested multiple times for the same behavior and had admitted to being sexually attracted to women's feet, a fixation he said he sometimes couldn’t control. Reports from Lincoln, Nebraska, revealed Johnson had even touched a woman's ankle in a grocery store on a previous occasion.
Johnson was eventually arrested near Emmett Drive and Riggs Road. He was charged with three counts of voyeurism and disorderly conduct, with bond set at $10,000.
What Did The Car Wash Owner Say?
Reyes Brito, general manager of the car wash, expressed relief over the arrest. "Justice! You should feel safe when you're here," Brito said.
Chanelle hopes her experience serves as a warning for others to stay vigilant. “It’s a good reminder for us, especially as women, to always be aware of our surroundings because you never know what can happen," she said.
The case has been referred to Gilbert prosecutors for misdemeanor prosecution by the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office.
