Get The Best View of The Bix 7 While Hanging Out With Us
The 48th running of the Bix 7 is this Saturday, July 30. If you are not planning to run 7 miles in the heat, then simply come to the top of the hill in your car and hang out with us to watch the thousands that are going to give it a try.
The best view of the Bix 7 is right here. 1229 Brady St. AKA - The Rock 'n' Roll Mansion.
In the early hours, we drag our butts out of bed and without stretching at all, set up the tents, trucks, and tunes needed to provide the party and the shade required for the day.
For some of us, it's actually a late start to the day. But for some, those 6:00 a.m. street closures confuse us. They actually are not that bad to get to the Rock 'n' Roll Mansion on Brady Street. Just don't try to get to us by driving up Brady. That won't work well for you. Just check out the road closure timing here.
Now last year we thought it would be a good idea to hand out these prestigious trophies to the runners. Bad idea. Nobody running 7 miles uphill in this heat wants to carry more than they have to. But if you stop by, we still have some left and would be happy to give you one.
It is quite a sight to see all the runners come up over the hill, under the Palmer Bridge, and right towards the Rock 'n' Roll Mansion. This pic from 2021 is actually fewer runners than normal. Some still sat out last year due to worries of the pandemic. But this year figures to be bigger than ever.
Sure you get the elite runners. And then you just get the ones out for a good time.
But while they are running and sweating to start their day. This is how we start our day.
So join us this Saturday, July 30 around 8:00 a.m. (before all the streets close) to enjoy this unique Quad Cities event. Park in our lot (we've got a decent amount of room) and hang out in the shade of the Rock 'n' Roll Mansion.
Pack your cooler (with your beverage of choice), some breakfast snacks (we hear the runners love donuts) a couple of chairs, and maybe a sign if you want to keep the runners motivated while you stand there watching them with that drink in your hand.
