Former Neighbors Granted Joint Custody of Labrador
A 100-pound black lab has been in the center of a rather unusual custody battle between two former neighbors in Florida's Pinellas County.
Elario was adopted by Tina Walker over two years ago. For the last five weeks, Walker has been sharing custody of the dog with her former neighbor while a judge decided who was the dog's rightful owner.
The neighbor sued for sole ownership of the lab saying that he's been Elario's main caretaker. David says he paid for Elario's food, vet bills, and toys and in a statement wrote, "Elario and I have a very strong bond/love for each other... He has been with me 24/7 for the last year and a half… I believe that Elario is my dog and should stay with me."
The judge decided that Walker and David will have to share custody of Elario and swap weekends with the lab.
