In Hallandale Beach Florida a man claimed he was trying to make a "citizens arrest" by firing shots around stopped cars.

The gunman was chasing a U-Haul because he said it had stolen his motorcycle.

Video footage of the shooting was obtained by a Local News reporter, Rosh Lowe. It shows a man pointing a gun at multiple stopped vehicles and firing shots.

The vehicles were stopped at Hallandale Beach Boulevard.

A witness told Local 10 News, “The light was red. Then I was there. And one guy in the middle of the street with a gun like this, pop! It was) absolutely scary.”

The shooter was obtained by police and identified as Dwayne Wilkinson. He told police he was trying to enact a “citizen arrest.”

Previously Wilkinson had reported his motorcycle stolen from his apartment complex. The next day he claimed to have seen it in the back of a U-Haul truck. He told police he, “was able to clearly see that the motorcycle cover resembled his,” down to the detail.

Wilkinson then carjacked a Mercedes Benz and chased down the U-Haul.

A comment under the video said, "So he STOLE someone else's car to chase someone that he thought stole his motorcycle....yeah...I guess that makes sense..."

Wilkinson caught up with the U-Haul and pulled in front of the truck to block it in the middle of the street. He then fired a gun at the U-Haul causing the person inside to take cover. The person inside ended up being shot twice.

According to the police report, Wilkinson “was not intending to hurt the occupants of the U-Haul but wanted to effect a ‘citizen’s arrest.’”

Wilkinson did not have a concealed weapons permit and faces several charges.
