Remember when you could return anything to Walmart?

If you had a birthday gift that was bought for you and it didn't fit and it came from Kohl's and you had a pair of jeans that were "slim" instead of "husky" that you bought from Forever 21, you could take them both to Walmart when you went to pay your gas bill and return them.

If you didn't have a receipt, they would just assume it came from another Walmart and give you store credit so you could go put a downpayment on that Yeti Cooler you had your eyes on.

Gas Prices & Supply Chain

These days, it's so hard to find the stuff you want and when you do the price tag is enough to scare you away.  The mix of crazy fuel prices and supply chain issues makes shopping quite hard these days.

Retailers Consider the Unthinkable

According to CNN, "retailers [are] considering the unthinkable: Instead of returning your unwanted items, just keep them."

So, when you take your 65-inch Samsung TV back because it's too's very possible they'll say, "we don't have room for it.  Please take it away and oh...don't forget your money back."

This could ONLY work in giant stores that make unimaginable amounts of money.  No small business would be able to sustain the impact of just GIVING AWAY merchandise because it costs too much to store or you don't want to pay Josh to restock it.

Target, Walmart, Gap, American Eagle, and more say they "have too much inventory of stuff ranging from workout clothes, spring-time jackets, and hoodies to garden furniture and bulky kids’ toys. It’s costing them tons of money to store it."

Hang on gang.  Things are getting crazier.
