Ex-Con Arrested For Assault The Day After Winning $167M Lottery
A guy who's had it rough in his life was finally going to have all his worries come to an end when he won a huge amount of cash from the lottery, but then he threw it all away the next day thanks to some ego problems.
James Farthing, who has been arrested many, many times in his life, finally might have gotten his chance to leave behind a life of crime, but then threw it all away after a guy called him a liar.
Police were called to a resort in Florida after Farthing punched a patron who called him a liar after he kept telling people in the resort bar that he was a millionaire.
The victim, 48-year-old Kevin Rushing, told police that Farthing kept telling everyone he was a millionaire, and Rushing had enough and told him he was delusional.
Farthing reportedly then tried to "fight everybody in the bar" according to Rushing and other witnesses.
“The guy with the tats...was basically trying to fight everybody in the bar,” a deputy reported. “This guy came in acting like an asshole, [saying] ‘I’m a millionaire, I’m a millionaire.’”
After being told he was a liar and delusional by Rushing, Farthing punched him in the face. The two were rolling around on the floor when Deputy Nicholas Areostatico ran in and separated the two. As the deputy got hold of Rushing, Farthing got up and tried to kick him.
He missed, and hit the deputy in the face, and then the second kick collided with Rushing.
The deputy drew his taser and ordered Rushing to put his hands behind his back right now and get against the wall.
Rushing tried to run, and thats when Deputy Areostatico fired his taser, with one hitting him in the back. Another deputy tackled Farthing to the floor, his face bloodied from hitting it on the floor.
“You see I have him (Rushing) and you walk up and you f***ing kick him and you hit me in the f***ing face,” Areostatico told Farthing.
“I’m sorry, man,” replied Farthing.
“Save your f***ing sorrys for later,” said Areostatico, who subsequently declared, “He’s f***ing going to jail for kicking me in the face.” Describing the police confrontation with Farthing, Areostatico told another officer, “He rode the lightning and he got taken down.”
Free after posting a $10,500 bond, Farthing is scheduled for an appearance in court. In his life, he's spent a combined 30 years in prison.
