History was made today in the town of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin as Don Gorske pushed a Guinness World Record to an officially impossible length.

Going down as surely the only person who is capable of holding the record, Don sat down at the McDonald's on South Military in the small Wisconsin town to eat his 35,000th Big Mac.

Donald spent the event talking with his fans, handing out meal vouchers for McDonald's, and commemorative pins for the 35,000 event.

He eats two Big Macs a day, averaging 14 a week. To make sure he hit 35,000 on the nose for the event, Don limited himself to just one Big Mac per day for the three days prior to the event.

When his big journey started, he recalled it being May 17th, 1972 after getting his first car. He was eating 9 a day at that time.

“I drove straight to McDonald’s, got my first three Big Macs, then got in the car and ate them. In that moment I said ‘I’m going to probably eat these for the rest of my life’. I through the cartons in the back of my seat, and started counting them from day one.”

Donald takes the record so seriously he's kept every container and receipt from the sales.

To stay healthy, and maintain his great blood sugar level and exceptional cholesterol level, he walks about six miles a day.

In 1999, he achieved a Guinness World Record for most Big Mac burgers eaten in a lifetime, but he bested that record in 2022 with a startling 32,340 Big Macs.

“I love hamburgers like no other food. I am closing in on 50 years of eating them next year, after eating a Big Mac every single day. This is a McDonald’s Big Mac – it's the best sandwich in the world! When I like something, I stick with it all the time," he told Guinness.

As of December 11th, 2023, he had eaten 34,086 Big Macs. He told us during a phone interview, which you can listen to here:
