Car Covered In Ice After A Pipe Bursted Nearby In Philadelphia
A 2016 Honda Civic in Philadelphia’s Fishtown neighborhood has officially become the coldest ride in town—mostly because it’s currently a 3,000-pound ice cube. After a water main break on North Front Street, the car was transformed into a frozen monument, drawing crowds of curious onlookers.
A Chilling Discovery
Owner Tianna Graham left her car near a six-inch water main break on Wednesday. When she returned, she found her vehicle behind caution tape and under several inches of "natural" glaze.
"I was definitely in shock," Graham said. The ice is so thick it has completely sealed the doors and windows, leaving the car "n-ice" and stuck. Talk about a "freeze" on your assets!
Viral Frostbite
Photos of the frozen Honda quickly slid across social media, turning Graham’s misfortune into a neighborhood festival.
"I feel bad for that person, do they know that their car's there?" asked someone online.
Despite the cold reality, Graham is keeping her cool. "I've looked through some of the comments, they're pretty funny," she said, noting that people even photoshopped parking tickets onto the ice. "I thought that was pretty funny, honestly."
Waiting for the Thaw
While the Water Department has fixed the leak, the Civic remains on ice until a tow truck arrives on Monday. Neighbors are flocking to see the "art installation" before it melts away.
"It's actually crazier than I thought," said visitor Brooke Freeman. "I've never seen anything like this before." As for Graham, she’s taking the "ice-olation" of her car in stride. "It's funny, I can't help but laugh at it too. It's just, what can you do about it?"
