A guy in Kentucky named "Darrel" (D-A-R-R-E-L) is accused of shooting and killing his other brother "Darryl" (D-A-R-R-Y-L).

Police Respond to Early Morning Shooting

Louisville Metro Police have identified the victim of a deadly shooting early Sunday morning as 30-year-old Darryl Burnett Jr.—the brother of the two men now accused of killing him.

Around 2:55 a.m., officers were called to the 1000 block of Brentlinger Park Drive after reports of a shooting. When they arrived, police found a man suffering from gunshot wounds to the head and leg. He was taken to the hospital but later died from his injuries.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office confirmed the victim was Burnett Jr.

Suspects Identified as Victim’s Brothers

Detectives arrested 37-year-old Darrel Burnett and 36-year-old Kiaira Paige later that day. Investigators say Paige admitted to fighting with the victim before shooting him in the leg with a handgun. Police also report that surveillance footage shows Darrel Burnett firing a rifle at his brother—something he later confessed to doing.

Darrel Burnett is charged with murder, while Paige faces a charge of second-degree assault. Both are scheduled to appear in court Monday morning at 9 a.m.

Neighbors Shocked by Violence

Residents of the typically quiet Southeast Louisville neighborhood say the violence is out of character for their community.

“It was very quiet. It’s beautiful. Everybody knows everybody. It just felt safe,” said neighbor Mary Kuerzi.

Kuerzi added that the incident has left her shaken. “Unsettled for sure. My heart breaks for the kids and the families that live in this neighborhood,” she said. “I just feel like I have to watch my back.”

Investigation Ongoing

The Louisville Metro Police Homicide Unit continues to investigate the case. Authorities have not released further details about what led to the deadly family dispute
