Brewery Offers $20k to Thru-Hike Appalachian Trail and Drink Beer
Devils Backbone Brewery in Virginia is looking for a "Chief Hiking Officer" willing to make $20,000 Hiking the Appalachian Trail and drink their beer along the away.
The Appalachian Trail is a hiking trail system that runs from Georgia to Maine, covering a span of 2,200 miles over a variance of mountainy landscapes. Roughly 4,000 people a year attempt a thru-hike annually, but only 1 in 4 complete the trek. The average time for a thru-hike is between 5-7 months.
The brewery said they're looking for people who "love hiking and beer" to take on the job. The winning applicant will have the title "Chief Hiking Officer" and be flown to one of the trail heads in May of 2021.
They'll even provide your hiking equipment, and treat you to a few "big ol' beer parties along the way."
