Keep Your Snow Shovel Handy, We’re In For a Big Wet Storm
It's the start of February and so far, we've had a mild winter. Except for a couple of cold snaps here and there and a storm or two, we've been lucky. Unless you actually enjoy winter, then you've been screwed.
But don't let the mild temps fool you, we've still got one more storm to watch out for that could cause a ruckus.
In fact, a weather alert has been issued for tomorrow (Thursday, February 8) where the snowfall could create hazardous driving conditions.
But the Weather Has Been So Nice
Local meteorologist KWQC, Kevin Phelps, has some news for us.
We may have a decent storm on our hands tomorrow (Thursday). At least we will see sleet and some wet heavy snow.
Rain is headed our way tonight and Thursday. Then rain, or a combo of rain, sleet, and melting snow, could total 1-2 inches are going to make things nasty. Creeks and rivers and uncleaned drainage could see some rising water.
The Long-Termish Winter Forecast
I'm no meteorologist, but I think we're going to look back on this winter as a bust, mostly. We'll remember that one snowstorm and that one week of cold temps, and that's about it.
But that doesn't mean we won't see any snow at all. March and April in the midwest are ripe for crazy weather.
Are You Cheering on a Winter Storm?
I live on a farm, so winter affects us more harshly than you "townies". We have to worry about the lights going out and not being able to escape to a plowed road. I'm not complaining, but I have to admit I'm kinda happy when we get winters like this one.
Then again, just me talking like this is almost a guarantee we see a good winter storm headed our way. It's always good to be prepared, so make sure to stock up on the essentials and get ready for some wintry weather.
This list should help.
