The Glenshire General Store in Truckee, California displays the American flag out front and had left it out overnight without a light on it. That technically violates the U.S. flag code which states that the flag can be left out at night if properly illuminated during the hours of darkness.

Joshua Lozon saw the violation and instead of waiting to speak with the store's owner, he set the flag on fire. He told police it was an act of patriotism. Lozon was hit with an arson charge and could sit behind bars for three years.
