Arizona Man Gets Stuck In Chimney Trying To Rob A Home
If you thought Santa Clause was the only person who could get stuck in chimneys... You thought wrong.
A man in the Valley of Phoenix was charged after breaking into a west Phoenix house by climbing through the chimney and becoming stuck.
First Responders Arrive
Following a call to 911 from the family living at the residence near 39th Avenue and Camelback Road, police officers and firefighters arrived at the scene just after 1 a.m. to perform a technical rescue.
The individual, later identified as 47-year-old Ervin Ortiz Guzman, knew the family. Paramedics monitored Guzman to ensure his safety as firefighters worked to get him out of the chimney.
Word From The Captain
Phoenix Fire Capt. Kim Ragsdale stated that the crews kept constant contact with him and provided water throughout the rescue. Following the successful operation, they transported Guzman to a nearby hospital, where he is in stable condition.
“Crews were able to monitor him, monitor the atmosphere around him at all times, they were able to have contact with him at all times, speak to the gentlemen and provide water for him,” said Ragsdale.
Phoenix police informed Arizona’s Family that once Guzman is released from the hospital, he will face charges of criminal trespassing and violating an Order of Protection.
