I read an interesting article recently were several of the big concert promoters around the world lamented that the big music festivals may be a thing of the past.  The biggest reasons are that there are TOO MANY festivals that already spread the acts too thin, and that there are TOO FEW bands anymore that can pull in the big sales.  The Metallica's, AC/DC's, Aerosmith's ... There aren't enough of them anymore to sustain the high volume of festivals, especially in Europe.  So now days, the "niche" festivals, shorter in duration, featuring bands of lesser "star quality" seem to be the way to go.  Guess all good things must come to an end ...  kind of a bummer, eh?
