Authorities in Otsego County, New York along with the Susquehanna Animal Shelter rescued over 100 animals from a farm.

The animals saved from the deplorable conditions include:

  • 25 geese
  • 20 pigs
  • 13 chickens
  • 13 sheep
  • 9 dogs
  • 7 donkeys
  • 7 rabbits
  • 3 ducks
  • 2 parakeets
  • 1 cat
  • 1 guinea hen
  • 1 pigeon
  • 1 tortoise

The authorities noted that pigs were eating a dead goat carcass to survive, hens were packed so tightly that their feathers were rubbing off, and a dead goose was caught in an electric fence.

The owners of the New Lisbon farm, a man and a woman, were arrested and charged with animal cruelty and drug offenses. The animals were all relocated to better homes.
