Put this on the list of the most nightmarish results of taking a nap. 49-year-old Lekshmi woke up from her nap with slight discomfort and a tingling sensation in her ear.

Eventually her headache became too painful and her husband rushed her to Columbia Asia Hospital in Hebbal, India. That's when doctors were able to shine a light in her ear and discover the source of her discomfort.

A spider had crawled inside and made itself at home. Medics were able to lead the arachnid out of her ear canal.

"It is common to see emergency room visits due to the presence (of) a foreign object in the ear and it takes a simple procedure to remove the object," Dr. Santosh Shivaswamy said. "However, when a living insect makes its way inside a human ear, the patient's anxiety makes it difficult to continue the procedure."
