The Santa Cruz Police Department in California said a woman was injured when her vehicle went over the edge of a cliff, but no major injuries were sustained.

Officers say the woman was sitting in her parked car in the parking lot of a lighthouse, when she was startled by a stranger who opened her door.

She was so startled that she accidentally drove off the cliff behind the lighthouse, and sustained a foot injury.

Public Information Officer Joyce Blaschke said the incident was truly an accident.

The person who opened the door of the woman's car thought it was his wife's car, which is a similar model and color, and he couldn't see well in the dark.
