A resident of Honolulu, Hawaii says she doesn't feel safe in her own home anymore after she had a giant boulder roll through the house, just barely missing her as it did.

Caroline Sasaki lives in Palolo Valley, and around 11:45 pm Sunday. Officials say the boulder blasted through the cinder block home's outside wall, living room, and another internal wall before finishing its path of destruction in a bedroom. In the catastrophic event, a vehicle outside of the home was also damaged.

Firefighters say the boulder, which is about 5 feet in diameter, came from an unknown location, and they're not sure yet what caused it to roll into the house.

“At least one of them could have been killed instantly,” said Craig Tomita, a longtime neighbor.

Luckily, none of the four people in the house were injured by the freak incident, the boulder even just barely missing Caroline Sasaki.

“I heard the loud boom, and apparently, the boulder passed right in front of me, which I didn’t know. I didn’t see it. All I heard was the boom and then somebody asking me if I was OK,” Sasaki told KGNS.

She said that her and her family just moved into the home this month, and the area has been dealing with some heavy rain in the past few days.

Inspectors from the City Department of Planning and Permitting showed up at the house on Monday to see if they could pinpoint what caused the rock to roll through the home, which was more than welcomed by the Sasakis.
