Your friends and family aren't the only ones who get bummed out when you ignore them and stare at your phone all the time. Turns out that feeling crosses species.

A new study has found that your dog gets depressed when he sees you using your phone. Researchers say that dogs pick up on the fact that we're ignoring them when we're using our phones.

"Dogs do read body language, they read our eye contact," Dr. Alexander Collada said. "They read our facial expressions, so if we are on our phone and acting disinterested, and they're looking for attention, it basically is ignoring your dog."

Being ignored like that causes their anxiety to build up into depression.

Your cat also isn't a fan of you using your phone either, but they're less social than dogs, so it doesn't bother them as much. And you know if your cat had a phone, they would use it to ignore you.
