Go For A Ride With American Railroad History With The Liberty Rocket
The Railroading Heritage of Midwest America in Silvis is really excited to host you at their shop for an up-close look at American railroading history.
On Saturday, September 26th, they'll be holding the opportunity for you to go for a ride with The Liberty Rocket, the world's largest diesel locomotive - Union Pacific #6936. You can hop on the train for a ride with a lunch stop in West Liberty, IA at the historic Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railroad depot with a thematically boxed lunch from Hungry Hobo.
There will be a ride Sunday, September 27th, featuring the former ATSF B40-8W #537 as motive power, with a lunch stop in Bureau Junction, IL with lunch provided by Tony's Butt Shack BBQ.
Both days will show you some of the most stunning views you can see of the midwest landscape, railroad landmarks and infrastructures. You'll have plenty of opportunity to take some cool photos of vintage luxury on the RHMA's streamliner coaches, vintage PRR coaches, and even check out the ultimate level of luxury in the vintage Selma business car. There will be plenty of Q&A opportunities with the steam restoration crew.

Upon returning to RRHMA's Silvis facility each day, there is a 90 minute shop tour. Guests will have the ability to see the progress on the currently being restored UP 3985 and UP 5511, with crew available for demos, discussions, and insight on the process.
Tickets are available now through the RRHMA website, and funds from the trip will benefit a non-profit organization and nationally-recognized leader of rail safety education, called Operation Lifesaver.
