These Are The Leading Causes of Death For South Carolina
As grim as it may be, we’re all going to go one way or another. That’s why they say that death and taxes are the only two things certain in this life, and the way it’s been going I wouldn’t be surprised if taxes were causing death here pretty soon.
While taxes don’t crack the list just yet, there are a lot of things that’ll get ya here in the Palmetto State. Here are the top ten causes of death in South Carolina, just so you can keep an eye out.
Here's what the Center for Disease Control says is taking out South Carolinans.
10. Kidney Disease
If kidney stones are any indicator, I can’t imagine kicking the bucket by way of kidney disease is any fun at all.
9. Liver Disease
I think we could all use a reminder that the liver is what filters all of the crap out of your body that you put in, so maybe we can all be a little kinder to our livers. If you’ve ever had a kid put crayons through the wash, you know that a filter can only take so much.
8. Diabetes
Less people would be afflicted by diabetes every year if they just made the best tasting foods healthier.
7. Alzheimer’s Disease
What an awful way to go. This one might be one of the worst on this list because it takes away your life while you’re still alive. This goes without saying, but god willing they’ll find a cure for this one soon.
6. Chronic Lower Respiratory Diseases
Try running a marathon while smoking a pack of Marlboro Reds and you’ll see what it feels like to go this way.
5. Stroke
Silent and very deadly. Make sure you brush up on the FAST method to identify when someone is having a stroke. The quicker they receive medical attention, the more likely it is they’ll see the next day.
4. Accidents
This is a pretty broad category. On one hand you’ve got your serious car accidents and the other is probably just all the dumb stuff that should’ve killed us when we were kids.
3. COVID-19
Won’t it be nice when we never have to hear about COVID-19 ever again? Until then though, make sure you’re seeing a doctor if/when you get it because it can get real nasty real quick.
2. Cancer
The dreaded ‘Big C’. Everyone knows somebody who has fought this disease like hell. And whether or not they came out on the other side those are some of the bravest people who walk God’s green earth.
1. Heart Disease
Your heart is the thing keeping you alive, so make sure you take care of it. I’ve heard wine and chocolate help with that.
Now that you know what’s most likely to take you out, maybe this will help you avoid the reaper for just a little while longer.
