The Newest Voice In Poison is A Quad Cities Favorite
If you went to Poison last night in St. Louis, you probably noticed there was a dude singing next to the keyboard. There's a neat little story there.
Brandon Gibbs, our boy, Iowa native and touring musician/artist, was finishing up a mini-tour of his own when he got a call from Poison, looking to bring him on the tour with him.
If you've followed the tour at all, this call came in just after Bret Michaels had to be admitted into the hospital, resulting in Poison pulling out of their Nashville show.
So, this call came to Brandon Gibbs, asking him to come and help out with the vocals while Bret recovers from his hospitalization.
"It said No Caller ID, and you learn those are the calls you answer," he said.
So he met up with the band in Jacksonville, and he, his assistant (daughter), and wife have been riding along with the band ever since.
No, Brandon Gibbs isn't replacing Bret Michaels as the singer. He's there to help out wherever he can, whether that's covering some of the vocals, or picking up a word that was dropped here or there.
It's an awesome opportunity for our buddy, and it's crazy to think about how he was just a kid playing at Rascal's Live a few years ago, and now he's part of one of the most monumental stadium tours in Classic Rock history.
The next show Brandon Gibbs gets to be a part of is at Wrigley Field, a dream for any midwest musician kid dinking around in their garage as they grow up.
Today we talked with Brandon, and of course, his daughte- I mean assistant, Shelby, answered the phone first.
